  1. I’ve always thought fireworks were a waste, anyways Claire – quite disturbing is this mindset though. What ever happened to “bring me your tired, bring me your poor struggling masses yearning to be free…” I can’t fathom the depths of hypocrisy and injustice, and sadly I regularly witness people speak with underlying racism here in Canada as well.

    1. Thanks for writing, Bruce. It IS mind boggling, considering that the vast wave of European immigrants arrived here at the turn of the 20th century, say 1890 – 1910, Not that a lot didn’t precede and follow them. Still, that means most European-Americans, if you round it off to around the year 1900, have a pedigree of roughly 114 years in America.
Big deal! You’d think we’d all been struggling here for 1,000 years!
The whole thing breaks my heart. I’d like to get out of this country, but I don’t see that as possible for any low-income person,
      Anyway, I’m glad you wrote.
      Peace to you from Claire
