  1. Me too, Val. I have loved Mr. Baldwin with all of my heart since I was twelve years old. I think he is the greatest American of the 20th century. If you want to read him, you might start with “The Fire Next Time” or “Blues for Mr. Charlie”.
    You have one thing in common with him: you both lived in France. He was an ex-patriate, and died there, although he frequently returned to the USA as an activist and professor.
    Forgive me if I am telling you things you already know…a habit of mine…
